medical dictionary

A medical dictionary is simply a lexicon for medical terms used in the medical profession. There are three main medical dictionaries in the US, all of which are available at the university libraries. Other important medical dictionaries are also distributed by Elsevier. These dictionaries often contain multiple versions, each with slightly different content tailored to different user groups. Because the terminology is so important in medical research, it’s important to have a good dictionary that can provide the right information quickly and accurately.

One of the most important things a medical dictionary will contain is a dictionary of anatomy. This dictionary will describe the structure of the human body and specifically the organs involved. The structure of an organ like the heart is described as a part of anatomy and will give details about valves (opening and closing of blood vessels), coronary arteries (connection between two blood vessels that supply to the heart) and other important parts. A good medical dictionary will also detail the physiology of an organ like skin or brain. Details about the function of these organs are also found in a dictionary.

Another medical term that is commonly found in medical literature is the chemical abbreviation. A chemical abbreviation is a word or phrase used to represent a chemical compound or a substance, as in “oxytocin”, “chlorodiphenylmethane” or “bromine”. Medical writers use chemical abbreviations to describe a medical term in their publication to make it easier for patients and doctors to understand the term. In order to better serve patients, a standard dictionary should contain an adequate amount of medical vocabulary, which includes both general and specific terms, and medical abbreviations.
